We are seeking an experienced Power Systems Contracts Manager to lead contractual governance across complex power systems projects (HV/MV substations, OHL, UG cable routes, protection & control). The role ensures robust design support, contract administration, effective change management, and cost control while aligning engineering delivery with programme, safety and quality requirements. You will be required to have a proven track record in managing power systems or electrical design infrastructure portfolio. A Strong understanding of transmission, distribution networks, grid integration, sub-station design and renewable energy systems is desirable.
Role purpose
- Contract administration under NEC3/NEC4 (ECC/PSC) and similar forms, ensuring compliance with contract data and governance processes.
- Manage risk/opportunity registers, monitor accruals, WIP and revenue recognition.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Design Team, Engineering, Construction Team, Planning and Supply Chain to align scope, programme and budget; challenge variances and drive corrective actions.
- Govern supplier/subcontractor contracts: pre-award evaluation, terms negotiation, drafting orders/subcontracts, variation management, claims/defence, and close-out.
- Ensure use of Employer contract management systems (e.g. SYPRO/Unifier) and SharePoint-based document control for transparent communications and audits.
- Maintain compliance with HSE/CDM, quality, and information security requirements (including Cyber Essentials controls) across Power System contracts.
- Key accountabilities
- Pre-contract: input to bids, pricing strategy, and risk reviews; support negotiations and contract award.
- Programme & cost control: validate baselines, support critical path reviews, manage linkage between design change, programme change and commercial entitlements.
- Manage and Drive the Projects to a successful completion.
- Monthly Reporting to senior management
Skills & experience
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage budgets, schedules, and contractual obligations effectively.
- Design experience in power systems or electrical infrastructure projects.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Substantial experience in power systems/utilities (DNO/TNO) contracting with NEC3/NEC4 (ECC Options A/C/E; PSC) administration.
- Collaborative communicator able to partner with engineering, planning and site teams.
- Advanced competence with Microsoft 365 (Excel, SharePoint), and knowledge of contract management systems (e.g. SYPRO/Unifier).
Qualifications
- Degree or HND in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- Professional accreditation desirable: MRICS /MCIPS/APM; NEC3/NEC4 accreditation; PRINCE2/PMP.
