About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Power Systems Construction Manager to lead the safe and effective delivery of overhead line (OHL) and underground cable (UG) construction works across our power networks portfolio.
The role sits at the heart of construction delivery, providing clear leadership to site-based supervisors and crews, while working closely with Project Managers, planners, designers, and SHEQ teams to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the required technical and quality standards.
This is a hands‑on leadership role suited to someone with strong construction experience in live power network environments, who can bridge the gap between planning and on‑site execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the day‑to‑day construction delivery of OHL and UG cable works across one or multiple projects.
- Line‑manage and support OHL and Cable Supervisors, ensuring consistent standards of safety, quality, and productivity.
- Plan and sequence construction activities in line with approved programmes, designs, and client requirements.

- Risk Assessments
- Construction Phase Plans
- Client and DNO standards
- Take ownership of safe systems of work, promoting a strong safety culture across all site activities.
- Interface with Project Managers to provide accurate progress updates, identify risks, and support delivery solutions.
- Act as the construction interface with design and engineering teams, contributing to buildability reviews, technical queries, and change management from a construction perspective.
- Attend and contribute to progress meetings, site meetings, and client engagements as required.
- Support logistics, access planning, and coordination with land, environmental, and stakeholder teams where applicable.
About You
You will have:
- Proven experience in the construction delivery of power systems projects, including OHL and/or underground cable works.
- Strong leadership experience managing supervisors and multi‑disciplinary site teams.
- A practical understanding of construction activities within live electrical environments.
- A calm, structured approach to problem‑solving and decision‑making on site.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with site teams and management alike.
Qualifications & Experience (Typical)
- Electrical or construction background relevant to power networks.
- Experience working on distribution or transmission networks (DNO environment preferred).
- Relevant safety qualifications (e.g. SMSTS, IOSH, NEBOSH) desirable.
- Industry authorisations appropriate to role and project requirements.
- Full UK driving licence.
